Born and raised in England (with a period in Belgium) followed
by studying in the Netherlands, doing an internship at Harvard University,
U.S.A. and working in the Netherlands, Peru and now in Rome, Maaike
van Ingen speaks several languages of which English and Dutch are
her native languages. Living in different countries has led to interesting
insights into working and living in various different cultures.
Maaike obtained her Master's degree in psychology at the University
of Leiden, the Netherlands, thereafter specializing in Rational
Emotive Behavioral Therapy. Maaike has experience in working with
children, adolescents and their families as well as adults and couples.
Thus, she has experience in treating emotional, behavioral and learning
problems. She is also familiar with psychological testing, advising
on career choice and orientation and giving interactive workshops
in the areas of personal development, communication, assertiveness
problems and learning strategies.
Presently Maaike works in Rome, offering counseling in English,
Italian, Spanish and Dutch, with both children and adults focusing
especially on problems of adjustment, assertiveness, relationship
issues and feelings of guilt, anxiety and depression to name but
